Elections Initiative Petitions

Proposing Amendments

In Florida, it is the people’s right to propose amendments to the Florida Constitution through an initiative petition process. Throughout the year, we verify thousands of initiative petitions signed by Taylor County voters. The sponsors of these initiative petitions must obtain a required number of valid signatures for their initiative to be placed on a General Election ballot.

More information on Florida’s petition process, including a list of current initiatives and the summary from each initiative financial information statement, can be found at dos.fl.gov/elections/laws-rules/constitutional-amendmentsinitiatives

Pursuant to Florida Statute 100.371(11)b., Taylor County’s actual cost of signature verification of an initiative petition is $2.31 as of March 1, 2026.
